Flooring contractors
Flooring takeoffs in minutes, from the plan.
Open the customer's PDF, click each room, and get square feet with waste and the boxes to order, room by room. No desktop software and no per-plan fee.
Free. No account. Plans never leave your device.
What you get
The takeoff, without the takeoff software.
One click per room
Click inside a room and it's traced to the wall faces, with door openings bridged. Press A to find every room; on PDFs they're named from the plan.Snaps to the real lines
PDFs keep their vector geometry, so every edge lands on the architect's actual wall lines, corners and intersections.Waste and boxes per room
Set the waste for the layout and the box size for the product. Each room shows square feet with waste and the boxes to order.Scale, checked
The scale is read from the printed dimensions and checked against the others. A resized PDF gets a warning before it costs you a box.Priced from your list
Enter your price per square foot and per foot of baseboard, and the takeoff shows the cost per room and for the job.Ready to send
A PDF for the customer with the plan, room schedule and takeoff, plus your logo and name. CSV for your estimate, DXF for CAD.
How it works
From the customer's PDF to the order.
You start with
The customer's PDF plan
You end with
Square feet with waste, boxes and cost, room by room
01
Open the customer's plan.
Drop in the PDF from the builder or designer. Multi-page sets open as separate sheets. An image, or a phone photo of a printed plan, works too.
02
Check the scale.
On a PDF, the scale sets itself from the printed dimensions. Measure one more known dimension to confirm it before you order.
03
Pick the rooms in the job.
Click inside each room getting new floor, or press A and delete the ones you're not doing. Cut out islands and hearths with the cutout tool.
04
Set waste and box size. Export.
Choose the waste for the layout and the box size, enter your prices, and export a CSV for your estimate or a PDF for the customer.
Compared with what you use now
Desktop takeoff software vs FloorFigures.
Dedicated flooring software does more than FloorFigures. If you lay out carpet rolls and seams every day, keep it. For residential jobs priced by the room, FloorFigures measures the plan for free.

Questions
What flooring pros ask.
- How do I do a flooring takeoff from a floor plan?
- Confirm the scale, measure each room's floor area to the inside wall faces, add waste for the layout, and divide by the box coverage, rounding up. In FloorFigures the scale sets itself on PDFs, clicking inside a room traces it, and the takeoff lists square feet with waste and boxes for every room.
- How much waste should I add for flooring?
- About 10% for a straight lay in ordinary rooms, about 15% for diagonal layouts or rooms with lots of corners, and 15–20% for herringbone or chevron. Small rooms need a little more, because offcuts are harder to reuse. FloorFigures defaults to 10% and lets you set the figure that fits the job.
- Does FloorFigures measure to the inside or outside of the walls?
- Room tracing follows the inside wall faces, which is the floor you actually cover. The building outline is a separate tool for whole-house square footage, so the two never get mixed up.
- Can FloorFigures plan carpet rolls and seams?
- No. It gives square feet with waste and boxes per room. Carpet is mostly sold in 12 ft wide rolls and priced per square yard; the free carpet calculator works out square yards and roll length for 12 ft and 15 ft rolls.
- Can I measure on an iPad at the customer's home?
- Yes. FloorFigures runs in Safari on iPad, with pinch zoom and a magnifier for touch and Apple Pencil. There's nothing to install, and the customer's plan stays on the device.
- Can I export the takeoff to a spreadsheet?
- Yes. The CSV export lists every room with floor area, perimeter, flooring with waste, boxes, baseboard and cost, ready for Excel or Google Sheets. The PDF report includes the same takeoff for the customer.
